LAWAS: Lawas Police sprang into action in the wee hours yesterday to raid a cyber gambling den in town which had been operating covertly.
CID chief ASP Raduwan bin Narawi, who led his men in the operation dubbed ‘Ops Dadu’, seized four sets of computers and cash totalling RM63 for exhibits.
With assistance from Sesco, police, under the legal provision of Section 21 ( A) ( 1) of the Betting 1953, also cut off electricity supply to the premise and arrested a suspect.
Lawas police said they are taking an uncompromising stand against cyber gambling and drug abuse in the district.
Last Friday night, the Narcotics Unit arrested two locals and seized a substance believed to be amphetamine.
One was nabbed at Lawas Public Park and found to be in possession of about 0.8 grammes of yellowish substance in a straw, while another was picked up in town and tested positive for amphetamine in his urine.
Both suspects from Long Semado were detained in police custody to facilitate investigations. - Borneo Post
